Creek Week 2006, April 21st - 29th 9:00am

Sacramento Urban Creeks Council presents the 16th annual Creek Week 2006 April 21st - 29th.

Creeks: A World of Discovery

Young visitors might wonder where the water comes from and where it is going. More advanced students may want to investigate the health of a creek by examining the plants and animals that live there and think about what their findings reveal. Wondering, investigating, examining and thinking are important mileposts on the path to discovery.

Creek experiences early in life enrich and inform the adult life to come. The expanded awareness that comes from dipping into urban creeks translates into more choices for later study, a career, a hobby and helps a person find where their own life fits with nature.

When you attend a Creek Week activity or help with the Clean Up, you will discover some of the plant and animal life that make urban creeks their home. Then you will also discover things that threaten them and what you can do to help.

River Reminder! Since our creeks flow into the Sacramento and American rivers, actions you take to promote creek health also benefit our rivers!

Join Us!

Be part of an area-wide volunteer effort to improve and enhance our urban waterways by collecting and removing trash and debris as well as invasive exotic plants.

During Creek Week you will enjoy, explore and learn about the benefits afforded by local creeks and aquatic life.

Bring Your Family and Friends
There is something for everyone to do and learn during Creek Week. It is a time to make new friends, to get wet and muddy, create art from trash, mingle with fellow creek lovers, and make a true contribution. You will have a great time and feel proud of the work you have done to help protect our environment.
